Kristi Swett has been serving on the Salt Lake City School District Board of Education for since 2003, she is the current Past President and served as President from 2008 to 2014. Kristi is also, currently the immediate past president of the Utah School Board Association, having served on its Board of Directors for 12 years.
In 25 years advocating for public education, she has also served as a School Community Council Chair, a local PTA President, on the Utah State PTA Legislative Action Committee, on the Board of Directors for Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts (a district charter school), as a Board Member of the Utah Public Education Coalition, and as a Delegate to the Women's State Legislative Council of Utah. Student success, safe schools, collaborative decision-making, and protecting the autonomy and resources of local districts continue to motivate her activism.
Kristi’s community volunteer work has included Salt Lake Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Member and Past Chair; Friends for Sight, Executive Board and Advisory Board Member; the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center at the University of Utah, Advisory Board, Executive Board, and Past Chair.
If you asked Kristi, she would tell you, …”being in the schools, meeting with students, teachers, staff and administration, is one of the best parts of being on the school board.” Kristi has the time, energy and willingness to dedicate her time and attention to the issues, challenges and celebrations in our neighborhood and district-wide schools.
Kristi and her husband Craig are the parents of two adult sons, both graduates of public high schools and universities. They have made Precinct 7 their home for the last 30 years.
